After breakfast, I help Alaric clean up before he leads me through the house showing me the laundry room, backyard, and basement music studio before we head upstairs. “As you saw last night, there are only three bedrooms. I’d love to add a couple more when we remodel. I’ve always wanted a big family. In the coven I grew up in, there weren’t many kids to play with and my parents didn’t have any more after me.”

Seeing the sad look on his face, I ask, “Why’s that?”

“Mom had fertility issues. She had three miscarriages before me and six more after. It took a toll on her and my dad, so they quit trying. Adoption wasn’t really a thing back then, so I was all they had, and they doted on me.”

Unable to resist the urge to comfort him, I rub my hand across his back. “I take it by your use of past tense, they aren’t around anymore?”

Alaric shakes his head. “They died during World War I when a bomb was dropped on the coven house. I was in Australia at the time.”

“I’m sorry to hear that. My parents are gone too. A wildfire wiped out my entire sleuth. Luckily, my two younger sisters were away at college at the time, so I still have them.”

Alaric smiles at me and says, “I’m glad you have them.”

“They’re great and they’re moving here. I can’t wait for you to meet them.”

Alaric kisses me softly, eyes alight with happiness. “I’m looking forward to it. I’ll have to introduce you to my bandmates sometime soon. They’re basically my family now.”

Raising an eyebrow at him, I question, “Bandmates?”

Alaric grins. “You’re looking at the drummer for The Dead Tuesdays. We have a permanent contract with the Blue Moon club in Venetian Hills playing three nights a week.”

Well shit. My mate’s a Rockstar. Grinning widely, I tease, “You just made me want to act out every hot rockstar fantasy I’ve ever had.”

Alaric winks at me. “I’ll help you fulfill all your fantasies anytime you want, vozlyublennyy.”

Arousal surges through me and I shiver then a thought occurs and my eyes narrow as I let them roam over Alaric’s sexy body and imagine him wearing typical rocker garb while sitting behind a drum kit. “I’ll have to beat the groupies off you with a stick.”

Alaric barks out a laugh and moves into my space until he’s pressed against me. “None of them will ever compare to you, vozlyublennyy.”

Growling, “Damn right they won’t,” I take his lips in a fiery hot kiss that makes me want to say screw it and take him to bed instead of doing what needs to be done. When we pull apart, Alaric’s icy silver eyes have darkened with lust. He licks his lips and says, “Tour’s over, vozlyublennyy. Let’s go get your stuff before I drag you into our room and refuse to let you leave until we’re both thoroughly claimed.”

Licking my lips, I tell him, “Helkini, you talk like that’s some kind of threat when I’d be more than willing to take you up on what you’re offering.
